Peter Profile
Peter Saglietti
Nov 2024 Peter served as AMOC Vic President for approximately 9 years and continues to hold positions on the committee. He has been a very active and influential member of the AMOC UK committee of management, the “COM”. His passion for the club is evident in many ways, from his leadership in rewriting of the constitution, to his dedication in organising countless events over the years. A standout achievement was his leadership in delivering the AMOC Victorian National in 2022.
Anne Profile
Anne Saglietti
Nov 2024 Anne has been an active heavy lifting member of the committee as events coordinator for many years. She provided event management coordination, spending hours at home preparing fine detail adornments for events and managed all - from unfortunate non attendances to accommodating last minute attendees. Her meticulous planning and attention to detail have been instrumental to the success of every event. Anne's commitment was particularly evident in the Victorian National, where she ensured every T was crossed and every i dotted. This culminated in the National running like clockwork and an event that continues to be remembered by all.

What follows is a very brief version of my involvement with motor cars . Started a love for cars from days when I was in a pram and my grandmother used to show me the car badge names and park me in the front of her house and I would watch the cars go by. My first car was an MGA and joined the MGCC became a committee member and competition secretary for a time. My first race was in an MG at the Winton 6 hour in 1966 I think! Went to UK in 1967/68 and purchased my first Aston a DB4 series 2. Had an accident when a drunk driver in a van hit me head on while I was waiting to go around a roundabout. The David Brown Aston Martin Company were exceptionable to me at the time in keeping my car for nearly 12 months at no cost until they could arrange for the new panels and windscreen and freighted the car back to Melbourne. Met and formed a long friendship with Roger Stowers who was the official Aston Martin historian for many years. Repaired the car and regretfully sold it. Saw an add in the Waverley Gazette for people wanting to start a Mercedes Benz club in Vic , so was a foundation / committee member helping start the Mercedes Benz Club of Victoria which has seen huge growth since 1972. Re entered Aston ownership in 1977 with a DBS and joined AMOC events. Convened the 1978 Shepparton National and helped in 1980 and 1982 plus Beechworth in 1992. Was awarded the Oscar Ruegg trophy by AMOC. Started Tickford Sales in 1980 specializing in Aston Martin and similar cars, including spare parts via AM Distributors until the mid 1990s. Convenor of the Melbourne Classic Car Show at the Royal Exhibition in 1985,86,87 and 1989. This was basically a forerunner of Motorclassica but with more cars mainly from car clubs. Became Auction Director for the first Australian Grand Prix Auction held by Shannons when the GP came to Melbourne in 1996. Started Brooklands Classic Cars with Murray Richards in mid 1996 in Sandringham. Brooklands still operating now from Dingley , but my son Cameron together with the late Murray Richards son ,Robert own and run Donington Auctions in Dingley Village. Fairly continually raced various classic cars in historic events here since 1985 including Aston Martin DB4 / GT, DB6, Jaguar XK150, Porsche 911 and Chevrolet Corvette until 2017. Competed in the Adelaide GP Rally in DB4GT, Austin Healey 3000 Rally Car, and Aston Martin V8 Vantage and DB6 before the AGP came to Melbourne. Exhibited the Aston Martin DBSZ Concept at the Goodwood Revival Meeting in 2007. Have maintained a pretty full history file of mostly pre DB7 Aston Martin cars and Lagonda's since joining the club 50 years ago. Initially this compilation was started with the late Robert Penn- Bradly a long time Aston and Lagonda enthusisat, but have continued it on as handled so many cars over the years. I am happy to pass on any information we have to an AMOC member who may have an early Aston Martin, so by all means feel free to make contact. It is amazing how far flung enquiries have come from in relation to the cars held on file.
